Commentary
This is the Statue of the Wise Manjusri. The Bodhisattva Manjusri is said to have been an actual person who was born after the day when Buddha entered Nirvana. He dedicated himself to compiling and organizing the Buddhist sutras, so he has been worshipped as the Buddha of Wisdom since ancient times. He holds a sutra scroll in his left hand and a treasured sword in his right hand, and he sits on top of a lion.
