Commentary
This is the statue of Chisho Daishi in doctrine costume to enter the mountains. The statue was consecrated (welcoming soul into a newly made statue of Buddha) in 1989 for the 1100th anniversary of Chisho Daishi's death based on the lore: after the twelve-year ascetic practices in the mountain, Chisho Daishi went on a pilgrimage in Omine, Katsuragi and Kumano Sanzan for three years, and then went through ascetic practices at Nachi Falls for 1,000 days.
