Commentary
This is the Kukai Monument. In 1982 a Kukai Monument was erected in Seiryu-ji Temple in Xi-an city in China to commemorate the Japan and China friendship and meritorious deeds of Kobo Daishi (Kukai). The following year in 1983, this similar monument modelled on the one in China was built in Zentsu-ji.
