This is the Ubuyu Well. This is the well from which water was drawn to give the newborn Kobo Daishi his first bath. Situated in the south of the Mieido Okuden, the well can be seen by visitors as they pass by the Treasure House and the ordination platform for a religious walk in total darkness.
