Commentary
This is the Shoten Hall. Shoten-san is the colloquial name for the Great Sage Nandikesvara (Ganesh in the Buddhist pantheon) and Mahesvara (Shiva in the Buddhist pantheon); he is also known as Kankiten. Worshippers pray to him to expiate all types of sins, receive wealth, honor and fortune, for good luck in marriage and romance, a harmonious marriage, and to be blessed with a child, etc; the virtues bestowed by this deity are boundless. The ridgepole of the current building was rebuilt in 2004; it was designed by Ekai Kojima.
