Commentary

This is the Hoyake Jizo Hall; it is a registered tangible cultural property. A certain person prayed to this Ksitigarbha (bodhisattva who looks over children, travellers and the underworld) for three years to cure the burn scars on her child’s cheek. Her child’s scars healed and the story spread among others; people then flocked to worship this Hoyake Jizo, who can heal bruises, birthmarks and other such conditions.
