Mandara-ji Temple
gomado
Commentary
This is the Gomado (hall for burning cedar sticks). This edifice is used for the veneration of the Five Great Kings of Wisdom centering around Fudo Myo-o, and it was established in 1994. The hearth located in the center of the hall is used for burning "gomagi" (ceremonial firewood) that is imbued with one's prayers, as part of a "goma kito" ritual to pray to the Five Great Kings of Wisdom. All of the statues of the Five Great Kings of Wisdom that are stored here are made of wood and have been given a base material finish, and they have been newly built in recent years.
