Commentary
This is one of two enormous camphor trees. The two camphor trees located by the Goshamyo Shrine and by the northern side of the Main Southern Gate are said to be a thousand and a few hundred years old. These enormous trees recall Kobo Daishi’s childhood and the time of the foundation of Zentsu-ji Temple. It is designated as a Natural Monument of Kagawa prefecture under the name of an enormous camphor in the precinct of Zentsu-ji Temple.
