Commentary
This is the Goshamyo Shrine. The shrine’s two pavilions are lined up in the south and north; in the background is an enormous camphor tree, which is designated as a Natural Monument of Kagawa prefecture. The current buildings are said to have been rebuilt in the early Edo period using a streamlined roof style (nagare-zukuri) and a mixture of concave and convex roof tiles (honkawarabuki), with a fence surrounding the shrine. The five gods are enshrined in the pavilions, each divided from the local shrines that protect the Zentsu-ji area.
