Commentary
This is the Shinden; it is a registered tangible cultural property. It was built in 1907. In 1922, it was said to be used as a resting place during a royal visit of the then Regent of Japan, who later became the Emperor of Showa. A set of painting on the fusuma sliding doors titled “Tenkai Yumei” (Heaven and sea, this and the other world) is by the great artist Kousei Tohno. It was presented to Zentsu-ji in 2012.
