Commentary
This is Komyoden. It was built as a charnel with eternal memorial service in 2009. The octagonal thirteen-tiered pagoda on the podium represents the thirteen Buddhas, the Honzon (the principal object of worship at a temple) of memorial service for the dead. A five-ringed tower on top symbolizes macrocosm and Mahavairocana in the Womb Realm. The inside is a charnel and a facility for eternal memorial service, and statues such as Kobo Daishi and the thirteen Buddhas are enshrined to create a purified atmosphere.
