Commentary
These are the armories of the former 11th Infantry Brigade. These were designed by a German engineer and were built between the Meiji and Taisho periods. Red bricks used for the buildings were made abroad and were thought to have had a higher strength than those made in Japan at that time. Despite the fact that the number of buildings made with bricks has diminished since the Great Kanto Earthquake, these three armories are still used by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force.
