Konzou-ji Temple
chishodaishihatsuyunoi
Commentary
This is the spring water used for new born Chisho Daishi’s first bath. It is located 1.5 km eastwards from Konzou-ji Temple. It was regarded as a sacred place where miracle-working water came out. A temple named Butsumei-ji was built to manage the fountain; however, the temple was closed in 1872 due to Haibutsu Kishaku, the abolishment of Buddhism. The Honzon (the principal object of worship at a temple), the statue of Chisho Daishi, is currently enshrined Gyokusen-in (Konrin-ji Temple) in Kitoku-cho.
