Commentary
In the Masters’ Cemetery, there are 172 grave markers. Among them, 15 towers including one medieval two-storied Buddhist tower, five medieval five-ringed towers and nine early-modern five-ringed towers are a designated cultural property of Zentsuji City. Especially, the large-sized early-modern five-ringed tower closely resembles that of the Ikoma clan, the lord of Takamatsu castle. This is a very rare case in Kagawa Prefecture, so it is presumed that this memorial tower could be for someone in a special position in the hierarchy.
