Commentary

This is the Corridor in front of the Image Hall; it is a registered tangible cultural property. The stone monument on the south side of the corridor indicates it was built in 1915. On the head rails connecting the nine spaces between the north- and south-side pillars are figures of the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac and the Chinese phoenix. They were made by Torazo Kitano, who is known for his carvings on the festival floats used at Kannonji city’s Chosa Festival.
